Two AA groups meet at Wedgewood, one on Thursdays at noon and the other on Thursdays at 7:00 p.m. As an American Baptist Church, Wedgewood also belongs to American Baptist Churches of the South (ABCOTS).
At Wedgewood all are welcome regardless of one's sexual orientation. We belong to the Association of Welcoming and Affirming Baptists.
Wedgewood houses The Baptist Peace Fellowship of North America. Jesus said, "Blessed are the peacemakers." We Wedgewoodians figure we are supposed to be peacemakers and we are called to help other peacemakers. (Isn't it strange that some Christians get so upset when other Christians talk about peace and non-violence?)
Since it was founded in 1991, the Carolina Celebration organization has held an annual fund raising event at which guests have made significant contributions to The Dennis Fund, a vital client assistance program of Metrolina AIDS Project. The Carolina Celebration sponsors have created a true "spirit of giving" that has had a profound and direct impact on the lives of those affected by HIV/AIDS. http://www.carolinacelebration.org/ Carolina Celebration, by the way, was "born" in the kitchen of a Wedgewoodian, Ed DePasquale (pictured below).
Ed and another Wedgewoodian, Jose Garcia (pictured below), in Ed's kitchen "cooked up" Carolina Celebration and then proceeded not only to birth this ministry but to nurture it along its way.
Ham operators are of tremendous assistance during disasters. Two of Wedgewood's members, Jerry Henderson and Marge Fowler, are "big hams". In fact, both Jerry and Marge were chosen as "Ham of the Year" for the Charlotte Amateur Radio Club in consecutive years.

A Crystal Meth Anonymous group meets at Wedgewood on Mondays from 7 - 8:30 p.m. http://www.crystalmeth.org/index.php
Dr. Greg Carey is a former Wedgewoodian. We're still mad at him for leaving us for Lancaster Theological Seminary. Dr. Carey teaches New Testament and is an expert on the book of Revelation, among other things. http://library.lts.org/faculty/GregCarey.htm
